Hi SH Books Family,
Our God is faithful - He cannot fail (1 John 1:9; Psalm 89:33; 2 Thessalonians 3:3). Second Timothy 2:13 declares "If we are unfaithful, [H]e remains faithful, for [H]e cannot deny who [H]e is" (NLT). Despite all that is happening in this world, be reminded that Jehovah Elyon remains faithful! We are alive, and for that reason we must continue to give God thanks. For where there is life, there is hope (Ecclesiastes 9:4).
As we embrace the Thanksgiving long weekend in Ontario, Canada, (and for those who celebrate that day globally,) let us reflect on our journey and give thanks to the Almighty God for His many blessings. Even in our crisis, let us "make thankfulness [our] sacrifice to God, and keep the vows [we have] made to the Most High" (Psalm 50:14 NLT). Importantly, we must continue to stay focus on Jesus Christ, discerning what we need to learn, know and understand from our lived-experiences. According to 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for [us] who belong to Christ Jesus" (NLT).
To rejoice always is not by mere human effort, rather, it is our commitment (Psalm 50:14), worship (Psalm 16:11), praise (Hebrews 13:15) and prayer (Philippians 4:6) coupled with the power of the Holy Spirit who helps us to understand that when we believe in and depend on God, our peace, joy, hope, love and strength come from Him (Galatians 5:22-23; Romans 14:17; 15:13; 2 Samuel 22:33). And as such, we will be "thankful in all circumstances", knowing that it is the Lord who sustains us (Isaiah 46:4; Psalm 18:35; 37:17).
If you have not been joyful lately, whisper a prayer to Jehovah and ask Him to replenish your strength - "for the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10 KJV). In addition, begin to worship in your heart and/or play some songs of praise, and I know it will only be a matter of time before your joy starts to bubble over in your life.
As you give thanks daily, share that joy with others.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Blessings!
